Ride to Starved Rock on September 27, 2008

We had a great ride out to Starved Rock taking a winding route through various towns including Morris, Seneca, Marseilles, Ottawa, and Naplate.  A lot the Starved Rock area was closed because of water damage from the recent flooding.  After walking around a bit, we went to the famous leather shop in Utice, which also relocated because of water damage to the original store.  We took the same route back, stopping at the Tiki bar just off of Route 6.  When we pulled into the parking lot, we noticed the building had burned down, although, a covered area near the water was serving drinks.  We found out that the building had sustained a lot water damage, then burned down, likely due to an electrical short after the flooding.  Our hearts go out to all those who suffered as a result of the rain and flooding.
